If you are in the Lake Country why not let Tom Braatz  show you the Village of Dousman? It does not take long when you come into the Village of Dousman to realize that everyone is very friendly, and welcomes you. This is a community where people participate, and it also is a community that has the luxury of being surrounded by majestic fields of Sand Hill cranes, birds, wild life, and more.

It is truly amazing to watch such a beautiful bird gather with others, nest, and enjoy the fields, waterways, and conservancy they way they do. I hope that picture never leaves my head in my lifetime. You can walk down the Drumlin trail which reaches from Milwaukee to Spring Green, Wisconsin. Spring Green was home to renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. There are boat houses and other examples of his architecure in this area. If fact, When I was married, I had a very large home that was built by one of his students that sat on a hilltop in the country. All the glass used to make me worry about heat bills. It was a nice home.

The trail allows people to walk, bike, and just enjoy unspoiled nature. Large expanses of land offer home to deer, a large variaty of birds, butterflies, and flowers and flora everywhere. Absolutely breath taking. One can sit for hours on benches and be fasinated by all the interaction, and solitude you view.

 The Village of Dousman has a unique small "Main Street" that is in lots of little Villages and Towns in Wisconsin. A fire department, taverns, restaurants, general store, a Masonic lodge, and a retirement home for retirees, and much more charming buildings. I have sold everything from Residential to Commercial in this fine community, and I like the outgoing friendliness that exists in Dousman. I see it everywhere in Waukesha County.

History is prevelant everywhere in Dousman. Hercules  Dousman was a fur trader. A lot of his influences can be seen in this town, and other historical sites in Waukesha County. Earlier it was a combination of fur traders, farmers, and other individuals that would make up the start of this Village. Today, a lot of the old buildings still exist, and are complimented by new ones as well, and surrounding homes.

The White stuff returns to Wisconsin

I have my goals and I look at them everyday. I see one being accomplished that much faster with the return of the white stuff; that being snow. Two days ago I was walking in Delafield, and it was fifty degrees. Then last night, and this morning the snow was out in driving force again.

It would be hard to find a state that is as beautiful as Wisconsin, and the Lake Country where I live in is spectacular. I enjoy it in Spring with all the new growth, summers are one of a kind, and falls are majestic as they can be. I have always enjoyed just staying on my boat in the marina in the past. Now that my boat is not needed anymore it still makes for some great memories. The weather here is always changing, and with lakes around you in every direction it really gets you excited for Spring when all the ice houses are off the lakes, and you can see all the open water. Somehow I have a feeling that snow may come back yet this year, but that's okay. For me I look at it as a memory. For now it looks like this.

Elm Grove Wisconsin, A wonderful area in Waukesha County

Not too far from the City of Brookfield sits a charming area known as the Village of Elm Grove. It's proximately to Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, and Waukesha County lends to being recognized as a beautiful pocket of Waukesha County, and it's charm.

My secretaries used to tell me that if I did not go through Elm Grove and stop at the Chocolate Swan that I should keep on going. I often think that it was kind of going to extremes that they were willing to take a stand against chocolate verses me. The chocolate always won out, whether it was dark chocolate, milk chocolate, banana Napoleon, and dipped strawberries. I loved those ladies when they would get their "Care Packages" from me and go off into my kitchen to eat their new found splendor. "Tom, we put everything on your desk, go cold call, or something." Man, did I feel special.

This was just one of the magnificent place you could find in Elm Grove. There used to be this wonderful restaurant that was old as dirt called "The Halfway house" Really charming, and outstanding food.

The little restaurants, pubs, plant nurseries, and more. It is what made Elm Grove, not to say some very nice Real Estate. 

 

 

 

Elm Grove is a very  unique community in Waukesha County. Home to about 6,200 residents and numerous businesses. Elm Grove provides a small town environment, with proximity to all "big city" opportunities. Residents and businesses share a community spirit that makes Elm Grove and outstanding place to live and work. Volunteerism and cooperation between government, business and residents continue to allow Elm Grove to grow in the right direction and remain strong.

This is evident when you walk in shops, restaurants, and down the street, and people know your name, and wave. People remember you kids names, your favorite types of flowers, and care about you.

It's days like these when I get up and wonder where in the world I am going to start, and the work ahead of me.

It is days like these I multi task, try to accomplish many things, and wonder about the fires I will have to put out today, and the work ahead of me.

It's days like these that the phone heats up next to my head, I always have thirty voice mails waiting, and I wonder where I will find the time to cold call, prospect, do my lead follow up, and connect all the dots.

It's days like these that it seems that when the dominoes fall into place we breath a sign of relief for our clients, and we go on to the next project.

It's days like these that make me realize why I became a Realtor, why we are in this Industry, and it's days like these that make me realize I will wake up tomorrow and embrace the Industry I so much love and look forward to another challenging day. Man, I love this job!

I like to sell Commercial Real estate, and I believe credit has to be given where it is due. I have a commercial property that was referred to me and it is in Monticello, Wisconsin. Upon finding this wonderful area on the map in Green County I ventured out of Waukesha County to list it. It is a multi family, which also has a large commercial part to it as well.
